THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION ~ WHAT IS AYURVEDA?
Today we explore the fundamental question, what is Ayurveda? Perhaps many people would initially respond by saying Ayurveda is an ancient science of life. Others may stress the importance that Ayurveda is an eloquent way of explaining the natural qualities of nature and because these qualities of nature naturally do not change, the science of Ayurveda then is a science of antiquity; timeless.

This post is designed simply to introduce the concept of Ayurveda to the general public. Many of us have never heard about Ayurveda and if so, may have only just recently heard of it. I open this discussion so that leading experts in the field of Ayurveda can expand and inform us of the importance and necessity for imbibing the wisdom of Ayurveda.

    – Why is Āyurveda so important now, in our ever increasing fast-paced society, than perhaps ever before?
Many people are moving faster than ever before, flying, fast trains, fast cars, rushing to and from place to place. We need to use Yoga asana, routine and diet to ground down into the earth.
    – What benefits should I expect to experience while adapting to the principles of Āyurveda?
Better health, digestion, strength and peace of mind including sound sleep.
    – I live a very busy life, how will I ever find the time to incorporate Āyurveda into my daily life?
Ayurveda and Yoga practice encourage waking before dawn. Dedicate a few minutes a day for developing an Ayurvedic routine and begin the day with some yoga physical postures and sit quietly for a few minutes. Try and increase your dedication time a little every day. Always make an intention for your practice that is bigger than your small self. Try to organize your eating habits by efficient cooking techniques.
    – Is Āyurveda for everyone? If not, who should avoid Āyurveda?
Ayurveda can help everyone. Follow the directions of your counselor.
    – Starting point. Where does one begin?
Find someone who practices Ayurveda and determine your unique physical constitution. Slowly begin to incorporate foods, yoga, herbal supplements that are specified to compliment
your unique constitution and any imbalances to keep you healthy and balanced. Your consultant will help you develop a routine and guide you to living in harmony with the seasons. Get a good Ayurvedic cookbook like Eat, Taste, Heal or The Ayurvedic Cookbook by Amamda Morningstar.
